In recent years, the scope of high quality Chinese animation has expended beyond traditional annual series and special episodes to theatrical films, which have achieved great Success. Some successful titles like – “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” and “The Battle of Two Gods in Douluo Continent”, both of which have received great success.

This success has inspired other franchises such as “Throne of Seal” and “Perfect World” to announce their own theatrical releases. In addition, the most populer donghua series “Battle Through The Heaven” has also announced the release of a theatrical film that will be centred on the one of the loveable character of the series “Yao Lao”.

On August 10, it was officially announced at the Tencent Animation Conference that a theatrical film for Battle Through The Heaven is being developed. The film will center around one of the loveable character Xiao Yan’s Master, “Yao Lao”. An announcement poster was also unvailed during the event and later shared on the offcial page of Battle through the Heaven.

Who is Main Protagonist of the Film ?

Xioa Yan is the main protagonist of the series Battle through the Heave, so its understandable that fans might be disappointed that he won’t be the main character in the series’s first theatrical film.

However, Yao Lao, a beloved and highly popular character, will be the main protagonist of the movie, it is unlikely that Xiao Yan will appear in the film, as Yao Lao meets Xiao Yan only after being betrayed by his apprentice, Han Feng- an event that has already been covered in both the main series and the special episodes. The theatrical is set to showcase Yao Lao’s journey, focusing on his adventure in the Douqi Continent when he was young.

From the official poster, we can clearly see that Yao Lao has a long silver-white hair, wearing a blue lining inside, a white robe outside and a blue-white metallic belt.

The exact release date has not been unveiled yet. Since this is a major franchise, it is understandable that significant time and efforts would be dedicated to its animation, visuals and storyline, the complexity of such a project, is likely to take time. However, we expect to receive updates in the near future.
